Mostly reprint of earlier two books

It was difficult to review this book because on its own merits, I would give it 5 stars. But because of lack of information on the contents of this book, I would barely give it 3 stars. If I didn't already have P. Seggebruch's first two books, "Encaustic Workshop" and "Encaustic Mixed Media", both invaluable resources, this one would be an excellent purchase. It's full of information, ideas, techniques and quality photography...written by a very talented encaustic artist and very well presented.
However, I was very disappointed as I went through this new book to learn that out of the 224 pages, only 14 of those pages are not taken directly from her first two books. The remaining 210 pages can be found exactly as seen in the first two books (the order of the presentation of techniques being slightly changed). In fact, both books can be found in their entirety, in this last book...with one exception. The new book does not contain the "gallery" sections that can be found at the end of the earlier two books, which include several pages of high quality photos of the author's work.
If you do not have either of P. Seggebruch's first two books, I think you'd find this one an excellent guide to learning all about encaustics, as well as learning her many techniques and combinations of techniques. Her work is very inspiring. But if you already have both of her previous books, with the exception of the 14 new pages, this book is a complete replication of those two. And I feel that somewhere in the write-up and/or description of the new book, this information should have been provided. If it had, I would have been completely happy to just use the first two books.

The repeat book

I have her other books. This is just the reprint of the same pages! Nothing new same pictures of the same projects! If a person has not purchased any of her books this would be a great instructional book on encaustics.
