TOMORROW...COME SOON (Harlequin comics), by Jessica Steele

After a successful surgery overseas, Devon is finally able to walk normally for the first time since her accident. She bursts through the door joyfully on her return home, but a harsh reality is waiting to greet her. Her father embezzled money in order to come up with the funds for Devon’s hefty medical bills, and his crime has been discovered. Devon pleads with Grant, the CEO of her father’s company, to offer her father a second chance. Grant knew nothing about Devon’s medical condition and refuses to believe her when she explains her circumstances. Grant assumes that Devon is just promiscuous and spoiled, and his offer to her is thoroughly degrading: “If you agree to be my lover until I get bored of you, I’ll consider reinstating your father."

This is one of my favorite books
By Merry Reader
Grant Harrington had the most trusted member of his staff rob from him, he was outraged. Grant went to find this man to confront him, maybe find out if he is hopfully mistaken.
When he gets to the Johnston's he finds luggage at the door. A beautiful but lazy woman recling on the couch and his father's trusted friend jumping to his daughter the beauties every wish.
She is going on a trip to stay a while, and her father Charles Johnston the poor slob is going to lag in jail.
This is what Grant sees, but this is what he doesn't know.
Devon, is a brave 14 year older that is in the hospital after a terrible car crash robbed her of her loving mother, and she has a hip injury that is debilitating. She has had lots of surgeries but each one is a failure. Now 6 yrs later a doctor has revoltionary surgery, and Charles has spent all the money he has. He can't get a loan, and the house they live in is a company house. Charles tells Devon a insurance policy matured and the money is available for her surgery. When she meets Grant she can't get up from the couch without akwardness, plus when she has sit for a while her hip tends to lock in place, until she's been on it awhile.
Devon goes to get her surgery, but when she gets back, she finds the sweet father she left aged by years instead of months, and Grant in her home, ready to slap Charles down for his stealing ways.
Devon gets Grant to listen, but she is so nervous she really doesn't say anything concrate.
Later Grant gives Charles another chance, because Devon offers herself instead of her father for punishment.
Grant is attracted to Devon and he has her move in with him.
As Grant is about to take his revenge, he feels the scars on Devon's hip. She explans how she walked with a very bad limp, in fact people would pretend she wasn't there he walk was so bad.
Charles did what he did out of love. But I really think if he had gone to Grant and told him he needed money, and why Grant would have given him the money, but then we wouldn't have had this story. Grant really makes up for his mistake in a big way.
but he also wins the love of Devon, much to Charles' delight.
I like Susan Fox, Rebecca Winters, the late great Betty Neels, the late Essie Summers, and Eva Rutland also.
Finally

sweet!
By Agent Scully
So you want a naive-heroine-sacrifices-her-virtue-to-blackmailing-alpha-hero-to-save-embezzling-daddy tale without the spineless heroine, alphole hero, and selfish daddy? Well look no further! Devon's father is a decent man who only wants to help his injured daughter. The hero flings around the "b----" word in the beginning but changes his tune once he realizes what's really going on. His original take on the situation was not unreasonable too, given what he saw, so he doesn't come across as willfully stupid like way too many clever tycoon heroes actually do. Sure he refuses to believe Devon's explanations, but hey he's a Harlequin hero! He tries to take good care of her later too, and can't bring himself to go through with his earlier demands. Devon is very likable and more realistic in her innocence than many Harlequin heroines, given her injury and closed off existence. She's determined to save her father and won't let the hero escape their bargain. When he retreats (after learning the truth) she pursues. Very cute.

So a very sweet story and satisfying but alas, big 1* drop for bad, bad writing. Way too many run-on sentences and dangling WTF phrases.

"But, when it looked as though he would pick her up with all his male strength and toss her back the way she had come, whether from the indignant look of her, or whether because he didn't want another interruption to his day if she tried barging in again, he stopped when Wanda, who Devon was just realising had chased after her, said, "I'm sorry, Mr. Harrington. She just took off - I couldn't ..."

Say, what?? What??

Still, a sweet read!

Purty good!
By Anime, Manga and Harlequin Romance Girl
From the back cover: Devon's ordeal was only just beggining

When her father suddenly announced he had enough money to pay for the expensive operation that would end her years as a cripple, Devon was overjoyed. The joy turned to horror when he confessed he had embezzled the money from Grant Harrington, his boss. Grant demanded the debt be repaid. And Devon's horror deepened when she realized payment in cash wasn't what he had in mind.

MY THOUGHTS: Well the reviewer gave away the whole story, so I dont need to repeat it. I enjoyed the story, definitely readable and yay!
